TYROL'S LARGEST MUSICAL ADVENT CELEBRATION
in the wonderful WIPPTAL Valley.
The village centre of Matrei am Brenner becomes a magical showcase at Advent, with opened, medieval buildings, inns, workshops, and romantic illumination. Enjoy the musical potpourri of operettas and sacred, folk, and Christmas songs in the Heilig Geist Church. Make sure to get your tickets to the church concert (7:15pm or 8:15pm) in time. (Duration: 45 minutes).
In the evening, the horn ensembles of the Matrei Music Band and Wipptal Music School will play and sing in the public houses downtown (7:00pm to 10:00pm). Enjoy the 120 musicians, plus singers and artisans at the traditional TYROLEAN OPERETTAS and ARTISANS' ADVENT CELEBRATION in Matrei am Brenner!
Marvel at the artistic craftsmanship of Tyrolean artisans. Peek over the shoulder of woodcutters making masks and nativities, goldsmiths, Tel: +43 5272 6270 or tourismus@wipptal.at copper chasers, weavers, blacksmiths, and basket makers. Our one-of-a-kind wax chandler has just the right Christmas candle for you. Find a hand-worked horseshoe from the original advent forge, and marvel at the illuminated works of art made of stone and iron. The special-needs artists group will present their handmade crafts. Visit the Advent second-hand bookshop, and wonder at the skill of pottery making. Find Christmas ornaments, decorations and accessories. In Addition, enjoy the aroma of incense and teas, as well as products from nearby farms. The street stalls will provide fresh Tyrolean zelten cakes, the first Christmas cookies of the season, ginger bread, and spiced almonds. Sample our Wipptal wurst specialities, kiachl doughnut with sauerkraut or cranberry marmalade, Navis-style treats, and corn on the cob. A small glass of Simeler’s schnapps enlivens the senses, and Wipptal Tennenbräu beer is considered a local delicacy. In addition to mulled wine, Christmas punch, and sangria, there are non-alcoholic drinks.
