Enjoy a majestic bird’s-eye view of the village of Trins and the stunning Gschnitztal Valley mountain landscape like an eagle in full flight.
 
Perched high above Trins, the “Adlerblick” (literally “Eagle’s View”) has become a popular destination reached by a gentle 40 minute walk. Leaving from the car park above Trins, take the route marked No. 30 towards the Blaser Mountain. After around 20 minutes, you will reach a clearing in the forest with a fountain. The left-hand trail leads towards the Blaser while the trail to the right takes you to the Adlerblick. The rest of the trail to the Adlerblick viewing platform is well-signposted.

The Alpine Zoo in Innsbruck is the highest in Europe, perched at 727 metres above sea level. The zoo is home to more than 2000 animals and 150 different species. Come and discover the fauna of the Alps!
 
It is, however, the historical and modern depiction of fauna in the Alpine area that makes this zoo so unique. The animals and birds on view in the enclosures, aviaries, aquaria and open-air areas combine to make up an unparalleled collection of fauna from the European Alpine area. Why not pay a visit to the ‘Bärenfalle’ restaurant next to the reservoir where you and your parents can relax and top up your energy levels. Admission to the Bärenbachl Adventure and Water World is FREE for all visitors.

The world jumps here. And here the world begins. The breathtaking view of Innsbruck, the fascination of a ski jump venue with an Olympic past and modern architecture characterise the Bergisel Ski Jump.
 
The panorama restaurant “Café im Turm” and the panoramic view terrace can be comfortably reached in just a few minutes in one of two elevators or by venturing up the 455 steps. From the 50 m high tower, you can enjoy the stunning panoramic view and the fascinating insights into this competition venue. In the summer, the ski jump opens as early as 8:30 am.

Over 300 million years ago, deeper-lying rock layers were pushed up and over younger layers of rock nearer to the Earth’s crust. This phenomenon has occurred only twice in Austria, at Pack between Carinthia and Styria and at the Nösslachjoch.
 
Visitors are given the chance to experience what life on Earth would have been like 300 million years ago. As well as visiting a typical coal forest, guests can examine fossils and learn how coal was mined and transported. The entrance to the centre is a former mine shaft from which a natural spring flows. The experience is rounded off by panoramic views and the stunning natural beauty of the Nösslacher mountain. For more information about the individual attractions, please consult the information board at the Nösslachhütte hut. Hiking time: 1 hour.

The ‘Naviser Almenrunde’ is one of the finest jubilee hiking trails in the region. Take the tour and find out more about life in the mountains!
 
The tour begins at the ‘Parkplatz Grün’ car park. Take the forest road no. 16 gently uphill for around 40 minutes until you reach the Peeralm. The trail then continues to its highest point, the Klammalm, at 1947 m above sea level. Trail no. 18 then leads over the Poltnalm to the Stöcklalm taking about 50 minutes. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the trail and the surrounding mountains. A wide forest road then leads back down to the car park. The hike lasts approximately 3 ½ hours, climbs 462 m and is a perfect day hike for walkers of all levels.

Built at the end of the valley next to the Sandeswasserfall waterfall, the Mühlendorf Milling Village in Gschnitz offers visitors a unique insight into the culture, tradition and rural craftsmanship of the Tyrol.
 
Mills, grain storage containers, workshops, ovens, grain washrooms and fences were constructed according to contemporary plans, using wood, materials and building methods typical of the period. Visitors are invited to visit the different information points to discover more about the history and workings of the village.

The mountains were never so close – the new Nordpark Cable Railway goes from the city of Innsbruck (Congress House/Löwenhaus station) up to the Hafelekar Mountain.
 
From an altitude of 2300 m, you have Innsbruck at your feet. The Nordkettenbahn is an aerial runway with two sections, which go from the Hungerburg area of town over the Seegrube and then up to the Nordkette (Northern Chain - Hafelekar peak-mountain station at an altitude of 2269 m). The motor was renewed in both sections (Hungerburg – Seegrube, Seegrube – Hafelekar) as were all other supports, technical equipment and all suspension, and traction cables. Furthermore, new gondolas with an increased carrying capacity were also installed. The Seegrube and especially the Hafelekar Mountain both have panoramic views of the city and the Inntal valley as well as of the Karwendel Mountains.

Embedded in the middle of the forest – this is the fairy-tale-like location of the Sarnthein Waterfall.
 
This short hike begins at the Zita Hotel in Trins and takes you on the somewhat steeper trail no. 53 for approx. 15 min until you reach the St. Barbara Chapel. From there, trail no. 54 leads you on a level and comfortable walk for about 20-minutes to the Sarnthein Waterfall. During the summer, this mystical place is illuminated once per week. This night hike can be booked at the tourist office in Trins.

The Alpine Herb and Flower Garden in the Schmirntal Valley invites visitors to discover the Alpine fauna using all of their senses! The garden can be reached via a romantic wooden walkway in Toldern. Visitors will find a huge variety of aromatic and therapeutic herbs, including edible and even poisonous species. The plants are also available for sale. The herbs grown in the garden are used in the neighbouring Olpererblick guesthouse to produce hand-made produce such as bread and dried bacon. Why not pay a visit to the Gattererhof farm opposite the herb garden and buy fresh farm produce?

Travel back in time into the fascinating history of Trins. Imagine how, during the last Ice Age, glaciers reached far down into the valley, leaving their unmistakable mark on the landscape. Take a deep breath and let your fantasy run wild!
 
For example, at the entrance to the village lay an imposing dark stone block, the so-called “Drudenstein”, which had to be removed to enable the construction of the access road leading to the village. Trins also served as an Alpine backdrop in the film ‘The Last Valley’ starring Omar Sharif and Michael Caine. Many guests also enjoy visiting the working mill at Padasterbach, where Hans the miller invites you to discover more about the ancient craft of milling. All in all there are eleven attractions to visit!

The Valsertal Valley is a perfect example of a successful co-existence between humans and animals. Thanks to a natural symbiosis, the valley is home to many rare plant and animal species. The majority of the Valsertal Valley is a protected area of natural beauty and is a member of the ‘Natura 2000’ environment protection programme. The many shallow mountain streams in the Grauerlenwald forest at the end of the valley are home to a wide variety of animal and plant species. There are also regular themed guided hikes held in the Valsertal Valley, including deer-watching and bat-catching nights!

The St. Magdalena pilgrims’ church is perched on a steep mountainside 400 metres above the valley floor, between the villages of Trins and Gschnitz. No other church in the Wipptal Valley boasts such a romantic and attractive location as St. Magdalena
 
The departure point for this short hike is the parish church in Gschnitz. Follow trail no. 50 along the right-hand side of the stream heading out of the valley. After approximately one kilometre, the trail merges into the Jubilee Trail (no. 52), which initially climbs steeply before winding its way up to the church. The wonderful views make the tiring climb worth its while. Hiking time: 1 h 45 mins.

The Town Tower has the most beautiful view of the Innsbruck Old Town and the surrounding mountain ranges. The Gothic Town Tower was built from 1442 to 1450 as the Town Hall Tower.
 
Back then, the tower served as an observation and vantage point. After climbing the 148 steps, from 30m above sea level, visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the Old Town, its numerous tourist attractions and the surrounding scenery.

Next to the numerous hiking trails all around the Maria Waldrast monastery, which is the highest pilgrimage site in Tyrol, two experience theme trails also await you: the Schoepfungsweg and the Quellenweg.
 
These two trails, with their focus on spirituality and water, can be “explored” and “experienced” playfully and interactively. Places full of energy and reflection invite you to recharge your batteries. The Schoepfungsweg is about 2.7 km long / walking time, about 1 – 1.5 hours. The Quellenweg is about 5.3 km long / walking time, about 2 – 3 hrs. Both paths lead to/from the Maria Waldrast Monastery.
