THE OBERNBERG VALLEY
The approximately 8-kilometre-long Obernbergtal valley impresses with its unspoilt nature and blends into the Nößlachjoch - Obernberger See - Tribulaune nature reserve. The quiet side valley in the Wipptal valley branches off to the southwest at Gries am Brenner and leads via Vinaders to Obernberg.
As soon as you enter the Obernbergtal valley, you are accompanied by the rushing waters of the clear stream, which flows from Lake Obernberg through the entire valley and then flows into the Sill at Gries . The northern side of the valley, the sunny side, is overgrown with larch trees up to around 1,900 meters and the meadows in the sparse forest are painstakingly mowed by hand once a year. It has a flora typical of these larch meadows, such as blue gentians, primroses and orchids.
Atthe end of the valley, the striking Obernberger Tribulaun ris es at an altitude of 2,780 meters. This proud mountain is not the only attraction in the Obernbergtal for a challenging mountain tour. The Obernbergtal valley offers everything: easier hikes such as to the Sattelbergalm and on to the Sattelberg, a circular hike around the natural jewel Obernberger See or to the Lichtsee lake, but also more challenging mountain tours such as the ascent of the Rötenspitze or the Grubenkopf.
Not only in summer are there hiking routes of varying degrees of difficulty, but also in winter toboggan runs to the Obernberger See and the Sattelbergalm, ski touring routes and even a small cross-country ski trail make the hearts of winter sports enthusiasts beat faster.
