HUTS & ALMS

There are still plenty of rustic huts and small family-run Alpine pastures in the Wipptal and its mountain valleys. You can treat yourself to a cool drink and homemade Tyrolean delicacies while hiking. An unforgettable experience is also an overnight stay in a mountain hut in the Tyrolean mountains at over 2,000 meters.

Alpine pastures are a particularly popular hiking destination. They are usually surrounded by green alpine meadows and you have a wonderful view of the valley from the alpine hut. The alpine pastures in the Wipptal region are primarily used to house grazing cattle in summer, but many of them are also run by families. They spoil their guests with homemade specialties such as bacon, cheese, fresh cakes or dumplings. A special culinary journey awaits you on the Naviser Almenrunde in Navistal. Here you hike or cycle from alpine pasture to alpine pasture and can sample the respective alpine pasture specialties.

If you prefer to go higher, you should definitely hike to one of the 9 mountain huts in the mountaineering villages of the Wipptal and spend the night there. The unbelievable views of the Stubai and Tux Alps will quickly make you forget the beads of sweat from the ascent. The mountaineering village of Gschnitztal is home to 6 mountain huts that have retained their rustic charm. Experienced mountain enthusiasts with a thirst for adventure can circumnavigate the valley in 7 days on the Gschnitztal hut tour and sleep in all the huts.

Please note that the opening hours of the huts and mountain pastures can change spontaneously depending on the weather. It is therefore advisable to book in advance.
