ICE SKATING

Ice Ice Baby! In the Wipptal Valley, both ice princesses and field hockey fans can really let off steam on the many ice rinks. There are outdoor rinks in several towns and an indoor ice rink in Steinach. The ice skating Mecca is in St. Jodok, where a large natural ice rink with a field hockey bar awaits ice skating enthusiasts.

A great attraction for ice skaters is the indoor ice rink in Steinach in Tyrol, which is open daily in the winter months from the beginning of November to the end of March. There is also a skate rental service and penguin figures on the ice for young and old beginners to hold on to. The highlight of the ice season takes place in the mountaineering village of St. Jodok in the Wipptal valley during the Christmas vacations and semester break. There is also an "ice disco" with music on the floodlit square in the evening and a heated field hockey bar invites you to warm up and enjoy a drink. On some evenings in December and January, things really get going when the St. Jodok hobby team's ice hockey games are on the program.

There is also a small ice rink at the end of the valley in Obernberg, one right next to the Liftstüberl in Trins, one in the mountaineering village of Schmirn near the soccer pitch. The two rinks in Obernberg and Trins are also floodlit in the evening and provide variety, especially for the little ones. As you can see, ice skating should definitely be on your to-do list during your winter vacation in the Wipptal.
