INNSBRUCK
Right in the heart of the Alps lies the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. The concept is very simple: explore the surrounding Nordkette mountain range in the morning, stop for a hearty lunch and stroll through the streets and experience the history of the city in the afternoon. And all in the comfort of the S-Bahn from Wipptal.
Let's start with the most famous part of Innsbruck - the old town: Maria-Theresien-Straße is located in front of the historic center and stretches from the Triumphpforte to the Annasäule in the center. Here you will find a shopping mile and many places to stop for a bite to eat. Towards the north is the historic old town with the Golden Roof. The mighty Nordkette mountain range, which towers over the city, is omnipresent. The imposing mountain massif can be easily reached not far from the city center via the Hungerburg and Nordkettenbahn cable cars. The walk up Innsbruck's local mountain is definitely worth it. The view over the city, the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountain peaks is unique.
To the south of the city is another landmark with a historical and sporting background - the Bergisel. For visitors interested in Tyrol's eventful history, the Tirol Panorama with the Kaiserjägermuseum offers an exciting presentation of the subject.
Another highlight is the Bergisel ski jump, which is well known to winter sports fans. Here you can enjoy the spectacular view of Innsbruck over a coffee.
