A mountain adventure for the whole family

The Sattelbergalm, located at 1,637 meters above sea level near the Italian border, is no longer an insider tip. Whether on foot, by (e-)bike or perhaps even by alpine cab - the Nagele family's alpine pasture is the perfect place for adventure-seekers, nature lovers and young explorers. As Wipptal Valley locals, we are always drawn to Luis and his team. This summer we enjoyed our first alpine weekend together with friends and children.

The ascent

For the ascent to the Alm, you can choose between the Wassersteig trail or the regular forest trail. The water trail is steeper in comparison, but more exciting for children. There is more to experience as the path meanders through the forest along a small stream. However, as we had a baby carriage with us, we opted for the ascent along the forest path. Our children managed the approximately 1.5-hour hike partly on foot, partly comfortably in the baby carriage or in the Kraxe. Short breaks along the way helped to keep their motivation high.

A summit experience with far-reaching views

The next morning, we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast from the buffet that left nothing to be desired. As we had a sunny day ahead of us, we decided to climb to the summit of the Sattelberg. We deposited our overnight rucksacks at the hut and set off. This initially led us flat and then slightly uphill to the "MTB push route". A steep climb took us up to the tree line. After a short break, we finally reached the summit cross after another half hour's hike. From there, we had a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains of the Stubai Alps, such as the Serles (2,717 m), the Kesselspitze (2,728 m) and the Blumenberg Blaser (2,241 m).

Conclusion: The Sattelbergalm is the ideal excursion destination for families looking for an authentic alpine experience in the heart of the Tyrolean mountains. Whether on the adventure playground, exploring the meadows or marveling at the animals on the farm - children can experience nature with all their senses here. The warm hospitality of the Nagele family and the entire team ensure a successful stay. We will definitely be back!
