4 themed playgrounds that you can find in...
From the energy playground to an accessible adventure...
Sometimes you can rediscover even the most familiar winter activities in a whole new light. That’s exactly what happened to me at the “Sledding Like a Pro” workshop. Together with my kids, I experienced what real sledding is all about—and I was honestly surprised by just how much there is to discover.
We met at the Navis Luge Center, where luge coach Silke gave us a warm welcome. The workshop began with an exciting introduction to the basics:
Especially with children, this preparation builds a lot of confidence—and you can really feel that later on the track. Silke also succeeded in presenting the material in a way that was both understandable and interesting for children and adults alike.
The theory was followed by the practical session. First, we practiced the correct seating position, controlled braking, and steering through turns on flat ground. Then we moved to the track—taking it slow, following a systematic approach, and adhering to a clear training plan.
The instructor took the time to work with each person individually. No one was pushed too hard, yet everyone still felt like they were making real progress. Only once all the participants had gained enough confidence did the group move on to the longer downhill run.
For me, the highlight of the workshop was definitely the many practical tips on safe sledding—shared against the stunning backdrop of the Navis Valley. By the end, even my four-year-old son had mastered the entire course with obvious enthusiasm and growing confidence, even if not every turn was perfect. My daughter was able to really get to know her new sled under professional guidance and now enjoys it even more.
The tobogganing workshop in Navis is much more than just a recreational activity. It perfectly combines safety, technique, and the joy of tobogganing—whether you’re a beginner or an advanced participant, a child or an adult: everyone is welcome at the tobogganing workshop—and you might even make a few new friends along the way.
