Alpine pasture and mountain meadow care
Hand in hand are the key words for our volunteer project in the Wipptal valley
Have you ever worked on vacation? at an altitude of 2000 m, with panoramic views and a farmer's snack? We call it getting to know the country and its people.
There are many reasons why people are drawn to the mountains. The far-reaching views, summit victories, a good snack on the mountain pasture, the pristine landscape. You walk past, sometimes see farmers mowing and are curious: what must life be like as a mountain farmer? Is it actually a lot of work to maintain this beautiful landscape? Come to us in the Wipptal and try it out! On two of your vacation days, you can help out with mountain farmers in the Wipptal. You will lend a hand when it comes to slowing down the bush encroachment on the mountain meadows so that the orchids continue to bloom or to maintaining the alpine pastures so that the cows have enough food.
You will be right in the middle of our breathtaking mountain scenery and learn exciting stories about animals and plants from the conservation area manager.
What does that mean for you? Physical work, beads of sweat and the odd sore muscle. But that's nothing compared to the incredibly satisfying feeling that flows through you after the work is done. You look proudly at your work and finally have an idea of what it's like to be a mountain farmer.

Sustainability
The traditional, species-rich cultural landscape, such as alpine pastures, mountain meadows and larch meadows, is home to many protected plants and animals. Using them has contributed to food security in Tyrol for centuries. Our project helps farmers to preserve this cultural landscape.
Dialog
Our project brings together agriculture, tourism and nature conservation. We cooperate with the "Schule der Alm" association, the ÖAV mountaineering villages project and the Wipptal volunteer center.
Added value
In 2022, 360 hours of work were completed, 13 transfers were ordered from regional companies, 42 snack packages made from regional products were consumed and overnight stays were booked for the participants in the Wipptal.
