The past and present of tunnel construction can be experienced in many different ways in the BBT Tunnel Worlds in Steinach am Brenner. From the geology of the Alps to the history of human achievements in construction and technology.
The construction site experience package will fascinate and amaze you in equal measure.

The tour starts at the Steinach information center, followed by an entry into one of the access tunnels and a tour of the largest landfill site for excavated material in the Padastertal valley. The offer includes an accompanying guide, transfer between the stations, the necessary clothing and safety equipment for the construction site visit during the day and a souvenir photo to take home. You will literally gain "deep" insights and all the information you need about the longest railroad tunnel in the world!

Infocenter Steinach - Starting point Tunnel Worlds

Large infotainment center with 800 m² of exhibition space on 2 levels with a large adventure area for children and young people.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 - 17:00.

A large number of exhibits, display boards and monitors, as well as a show tunnel with a blasting simulator, provide a playful and interactive approach to all topics relating to tunnel construction and provide detailed information about the Brenner Base Tunnel mega-project. The Steinach Info Center is available in three languages (German, Italian and English).

Wolf access tunnel

Among other things, the individual parts of the huge tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are transported to a large cavern via the Wolf access tunnel. We have created the opportunity for you to drive in with our bus even during construction work.

Get a taste of the "tunnel atmosphere" and get an impression of the dimensions of this major project. But there are also small details to observe on the journey, which our guide will explain to you. Through the Padaster Tunnel, the tour then heads back out into the daylight to the large landfill site in the Padaster Valley.

Padastertal viewing platform

After exiting in front of the portal of the Padaster Tunnel, a short climb leads to the Padastertal viewing platform, from where you can look out over the entire valley.

Our guides will provide you with detailed information about the layout and dimensions of the largest landfill site of the Brenner Base Tunnel with 7.7 million cubic meters of excavated material. They will also explain the debris barrier at the end of the landfill and what has been and is being done to renaturalize the Padaster Valley. Observe the hustle and bustle of dump trucks, conveyor belts and other construction equipment processing the excavated material from the Schutter tunnel.
