On a hike with alpaca Casanoava - an animal-friendly day out
Sometimes the best experiences happen spontaneously: when a place with the Gschnitz alpacas became available at short notice, we seized the opportunity and booked our tour conveniently online. Together with my two children and friends, we made our way to the mountaineering village of Gschnitz.
The hike started at 10:00 a.m. with a welcome from farm manager Renate. In a short introduction, she explained the correct way to treat the animals - respectfully, calmly and attentively. Then we were allowed to get to know the animals. Our companion for the day: "Casanova", a particularly gentle and sweet alpaca stallion. We took turns leading him by the halter through the beautiful landscape - and not only learned a lot about the animals, but also how relaxing such a hike can be.
The trail first led along a forest path, then continued on an idyllic path along the Gschnitzbach stream - the perfect refreshment on this hot summer's day. Especially nice: the relaxed atmosphere. The tranquillity of the alpacas is also transferred to the people. After about an hour, we took a break by the stream, unpacked our snack boxes and watched our animal friends grazing.
Back at the farm there was a little surprise: our children received a personal alpaca diploma - a lovely souvenir that they were proud to receive. In Renate's adjoining farm store we browsed through lovingly made products
If you are traveling with children in the Wipptal, you should not miss out on an alpaca hike in Gschnitz. It is a lovingly designed, natural experience that slows you down, connects you - and is guaranteed to make children's eyes light up.
As the weather was fine, we ended the day in a relaxed atmosphere - with a cool ice cream in the mill village and a quick dip in the nearby Sandes waterfall. An all-round perfect day that we will all remember.
