The hut 1x1
The most important tips for your overnight stay in a hut....
Snowshoe hikes offer an ideal opportunity to discover the snow-covered winter landscape in a very special way and also allow non-skiers to experience adventures in the snow. Snowshoe hikes are also a very suitable leisure activity for families, as no previous experience is required. Lena and her father Matthias put it to the test and set off on a snowshoe hike around Lake Obernberg.
The right equipment
Before you can set off, you need to check your equipment. Of course, the snowshoes themselves (available for children aged 6 and over), hiking poles and breathable hiking/skiing clothing are essential. The onion principle is recommended here, i.e. wearing several thinner layers on top of each other so that you can take one layer off to avoid sweating too much. The shoes you slip into should be waterproof and have a slightly higher shaft to keep your feet as dry as possible. Of course, a good snack and a thermos flask of tea should also be in your rucksack.
Fun in the snow
The equipment is ready and the weather is at its best. The tour starts at the Obernberger See parking lot. From here, you follow the toboggan run into the valley until you see the first barns on the left. Here you strap on your snowshoes and set off into the snow-covered winter landscape. You quickly get used to the initially unfamiliar snowshoes and realize what new adventures they open up in winter. The route takes them along the signposted summer trail around the lake. On this sunny day, it is particularly fun to trudge through the deep snow. In between, there is always time to conjure up a snow angel in the winter blanket. The panorama with the snow-covered mountains and the mountain meadows with their rustic barns is particularly beautiful here. The view keeps wandering over the lake, which is well hidden under a deep blanket of snow. "Lena really enjoyed making her own tracks and following new paths (besides the well-trodden ones)," says dad Matthias.
After about two and a half hours and lots of romping around in the snow, Lena and her father arrive back at the starting point and set off on their journey home, a little tired but very satisfied. They are already thinking about where they could go on their next snowshoe hike...
The advantages of a snowshoe hike?
No previous experience is necessary and even in less than ideal snow conditions, you can explore the landscape in peace and let off steam in the snow. If you are moving in natural and steeper terrain, the avalanche situation must of course always be taken into account. The current avalanche report should therefore be taken into account before every snowshoe tour and when choosing a tour.
