Climbing Course: From the Gym to the Rock

A climbing course for anyone who has discovered a passion for climbing indoors and now wants to try climbing on natural rock.

This 2-day climbing course is designed for anyone who already has experience in a climbing gym and is now ready to take the leap to rock climbing.
The Stafflacher Wand features climbing areas with over 100 routes, making it ideal for this course. The key factors for success are: low difficulty levels, excellent safety measures, and a sunny wall.

This course focuses on rope and climbing techniques, and we’ll explore the specifics of rock climbing: equipment, technique, and tactics. This course is particularly well-suited for families.

Course Content

  • Review of the basics of belaying the lead climber
  • Equipment for climbing at the climbing gym
  • Climbing and belaying techniques
  • Rope handling, self-management
  • Modifications to the top
  • Advanced Knot and Rope Techniques

Requirements for your participation

This course is designed for anyone who already has experience with indoor climbing and is proficient in tying in and belaying lead climbers in an indoor setting.

Equipment

Sport climbing gear. Any missing safety equipment (e.g., quickdraws) will be provided by the course instructors. We strive to ensure that our participants have the right gear for them and do not want to create a situation where everyone is competing to have the most equipment. Our philosophy is: Simply bring your own gear to the course; any missing items will be provided by the course instructors during the course, and by the end of the course, each participant will have a personalized, tailored shopping list for their next shopping trip.

A Boundless Communication Concept

The alpine courses in the Wipptal Valley are an example of how funding projects can lead to concrete initiatives for the region. The “Boundless Communication Concept” project demonstrates how the climate change adaptation strategy can be implemented in a practical way—through initiatives that promote safety, environmental awareness, and sustainable alpine tourism.
