Group tour Wipptal Trek from 28.07.-03.08.24

Two Tyrolean mountain hiking guides accompany us through the Wipptal hiking paradise

This hiking week invites us to discover the mysterious side of the Wipptal. Our two mountain hiking guides will take us to places that we would probably never find on our own. They will sharpen our awareness of the unspoiled nature of this special region, all against a breathtaking mountain backdrop.

The special thing about the Wipptal Trek is that we can decide every day whether we want to join a leisurely tour or whether we want to go a little higher. Each evening we return to our comfortable base hotel and enjoy the view over the Wipptal valley to the Nordkette mountain range, which towers over the Alpine capital of Innsbruck

Highlights

  • Choose between two different hikes every day
  • Perfect arrival by public transport
  • 6x overnight stay in the comfortable Bildungshaus St. Michael
  • Small cooking workshop: the recipes are refined with collected mountain herbs

Tour character

  • Tours for connoisseurs: normal fitness and some surefootedness an advantage
  • Demanding tours: good physical condition and surefootedness required

The program at a glance

Sunday: Arrival
Travel by train to Innsbruck (perfectly accessible by long-distance trains). From there or from the Brenner Pass free S-Bahn connections with the guest card or by car to Matrei am Brenner.
For all those who would like to arrive by 11:00, a short walk over the suspension bridge towards Trautson Castle is planned. After a short stroll through the castle grounds, we will hike back to the Bildungshaus via the Panoramasonnenweg.
In the evening we will be officially welcomed by the two mountain guides and have dinner together.

Monday: Gentle start
After a 20-minute transfer, we start our hike on the beautiful high plateau of Padaun:

Tour for connoisseurs-Padauner Kogel: we hike leisurely to the "village end" of Padaun before tackling the first ascent in serpentines through the forest. As soon as the forest thins out a little, we follow the gentle paths to the summit of the Padauner Kogel. From here we enjoy an incomparable panoramic view in all four directions.
Tour data: 6 kilometers, 500 m ascent

Vennspitz summit hike: our ascent begins above the Steckholzer inn through the forest until we reach the first small clearing. The path is now a little steeper before we reach a wide basin. We follow the last upswing on a ridge to the summit of the Vennspitze. The view from here is simply magnificent.
Tour data: 8 kilometers, 830 m ascent

Tuesday: Welcome to the Navistal
We travel to the Navistal valley by public transport.

Tour for connoisseurs - small alpine pasture circuit: This wonderful pleasure tour takes us through a pristine alpine pasture and mountain landscape in the rear Navistal. Beautiful forest paths, romantic alpine paths and meadow paths take us from alpine pasture to alpine pasture.
Tour data: 6 kilometers, 480 m ascent

Demanding tour-large alpine pasture circuit: On this tour, we also hike through the unspoilt alpine pastures and mountain landscape in the rear Navistal. A little further on, we make our way over the hidden Klammalm and enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of the Tux Alps, the Stubai Alps and deep down into the Wipptal.
Tour data: 12.5 kilometers, 620 m ascent

In the afternoon we meet for a small cooking workshop in the Bildungshaus. We conjure up our dinner from regional ingredients. The dishes are refined with the mountain herbs we have collected during the day.

Wednesday: Out and about in the Obernbergtal - the valley of tranquillity
An organized transfer takes us to the beautiful Obernbergtal valley today.

Tour for connoisseurs-Steineralm: we start in Obernberg at the church and hike along the romantic stream path to the Waldesruh inn. We ascend through gentle alpine pastures to the Obernberger See lake. We hike leisurely along the left bank of the lake until we turn left behind Maria am See towards Steineralm. A regional alpine snack awaits us there.
Tour data: 12 kilometers, 550 m ascent

Demanding tour-Hoher Lorenzen: from Obernberg we climb up to Hoher Lorenzen via the Koartneralm and the Seeblicksteig. There we will be particularly impressed by the view to the south. With a bit of luck, we might even spot the Geisler peaks on the horizon. We hike down via the Sandjöchl to the Steineralm, where a regional alpine snack awaits us.
Tour data: 14 kilometers, 960 m ascent

Thursday: We discover the Padastertal valley
We travel together to Steinach by public transport.

Tour for connoisseurs-Seaperalm: They still exist, the small, quiet alpine pastures in the Wipptal, which seem to be just a stone's throw away from Steinach and yet are almost kitschy and untouched. Today we hike through the Padastertal valley to the beautiful Seaperalm.
Tour data: 8.5 kilometers, 620 m ascent

Demanding tour-Hochgeneinerjoch: this trail also takes us through the Padastertal valley. On the way there we have to hike past the Seaperalm, our destination is the Hochgeneinerjoch. We descend the same way and meet our group of connoisseurs for a rest together at the Seaperalm.
Tour data: 13 kilometers, 1,140 m ascent

Friday: Out and about in the Zillertal Alps
Today we set off on our last tour to the beautiful mountaineering village of Schmirn.

Tour for connoisseurs-Tuxerjochhaus: We start at the end of the valley, in Kasern. We follow the forest path slightly uphill to the Tuxerjochhaus junction. We first hike in serpentines through the forest, then across open areas to the reservoir. From here we can already see the Tuxerjochhaus. After a rest, we descend the same way back to Kasern.
Tour data: 16 kilometers, 780 m ascent

Demanding tour-Kaserer Schartel and Frauenwand: We walk together with the connoisseur group to the Tuxerjochhaus junction. Here we follow the wide path, which soon becomes steeper and leads us to the Kaserer Schartl and further uphill to the Frauenwand. From here we hike back down to Kasern via the Tuxerjochhaus.
Tour data: 16 kilometers, 1,000 m ascent

Saturday: St. Magdalena above the mountaineering village of Gschnitztal and journey home
Those who don't have to start their journey home straight after a hearty breakfast can join us for a wonderful final tour in the mountaineering village of Gschnitztal. We start at the famous alpacas in Gschnitz and hike up to the little pilgrimage church of St. Magdalena. Together with a snack station, the little church towers around 450 meters above the valley floor. We enjoy a wonderful view before we descend and start our journey home.
Tour data: 5 kilometers, 450 m ascent
